WAR CRACKER IN FROM COLD

HULLO RUSSIA, GOODBYE ENGLAND

by Derek Robinson                        (Whistle Books, £15)

Matthew Nixson,  News of the World 10th May 2009

SHORTLISTED for the Booker Prize for Goshawk Squadron, his brilliant 1973 novel about the Royal Flying corps, Derek Robinson found his latest book rejected by publishers.

Fortunately for readers, he has put it out himself, shaming an industry that publishes novels by Jordan -  and delivering another cracker of a read.

Recommissioned back into the RAF at the height of the Cold War, veteran WWII pilot Flight Lieutenant Silk is trained to fly Vulcans, Britain’s mighty atomic bombers.  It sets the scenes for a dark but hugely enjoyable novel about the nuclear age.

Echoing the style of Joseph Heller's Catch 22, this is a real page-turner.  To order a copy visit derekrobinson.info .
